Liturgy for Blessing the Fire

June 24 is the Feast of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist!

Because John’s feast day is so close to the summer solstice (June 21), the day was traditionally celebrated throughout Europe with large bonfires on hilltops and mountains. Often these fires were accompanied by large festivals. It’s a great night to host a cookout and enjoy a bonfire (or just a standard firepit).
