Easter Basket Roundup
I know. Everybody and their mother is telling you what to put in Easter baskets right now. I still want to share with you a few of MY favorite items. We don’t do the Easter bunny in the Hitchen home so I try to avoid a ton of bunny stuff, but I do love to add egg-themed things (eggs have a long history of being enjoyed in the Church on Easter!) as well as lamb-themed things (for obvious reasons).
Books: This will vary depending on the age of the child, but I like to include a new Bible, Christ-centered picture book, or other book that will point my children to the Lord. (The Baby Believer books would be a GREAT option for the under 6 crowd!)
Something to support their spiritual life: Pip & J Papery makes a wonderful Sermon Notes Journal; Tiny Theologians has some great Bible studies for kids; you could also get a Bible verses coloring book or water wow book.
Sarah’s Silks: I loathe Easter grass. Silks are the perfect solution - they’re a wonderful toy and look beautiful in the bottom of a basket.
Spring Theme Playdough Kits/Jars - sensory play is always a hit in my house and something about the “theme-ness” of these kinds of jars/kits especially delights my girls.
Outdoor activities for spring: egg-shaped chalk, bubbles, a jump rope, garden gloves/tools, and seeds are all great options!
Practical gifts: this changes for me depending on the year, but has included things like swim suits, a beach/pool towel, flipflops/sandals, a water bottle, a hat. Basically, things I’d need to buy them anyway, but are nice enough that I can throw them in an Easter basket.
Wooden Rainbow: This mini-rainbow is such a sweet addition to a toddler’s Easter basket.
Modeling clay: My kids LOVE this clay. It’s perfect for keeping their hands busy during read-alouds. And it’s NOT messy.
For Baby: this little lamb teether is so sweet. A little lamb lovey would also be a wonderful addition to an Easter basket! Also consider a sheep puppet, lambie bath towel, or tummy time cards.
Treats: Is it even Easter without a few treats? Lindt makes both lamb-shaped chocolates AND chocolate eggs wrapped in red foil so those are my go-to. I usually find mine at Target, but I bet any place that sells a decent assortment of Easter-themed candy would have them!
